The Bowl That Makes Them Think Before They Swallow

Thirty seconds. That's how long some dogs take to inhale an entire meal — and then spend the next hour dealing with the consequences. Gulping air with every mouthful, regurgitating kibble on your floor, or pacing with a bloated, uncomfortable stomach. A standard slow feeder puts ridges in the way. This one makes your dog solve a puzzle.

Three rotating plates sit inside a deep, weighted bowl. Your dog nudges, spins, and noses the layers to uncover food hidden in compartments beneath. It turns a 30-second demolition into a 5-to-10-minute foraging session — extending mealtime by up to 15× while engaging the brain, not just the jaw. When it's over, the whole thing disassembles and goes in the dishwasher.

Why It Earned the OCPAGA Edit

3-Layer Rotating Puzzle Mechanism — Two interlocking half-disc plates rotate independently on a central spindle inside the bowl. Your pet must nudge and spin the layers to reveal food hidden in the compartments beneath. Unlike static ridge-based slow feeders, this requires active problem-solving at every meal.

Extends Mealtime Up to 15× — By forcing your dog to work for each mouthful, the rotating layers slow consumption from seconds to minutes. Slower eating means less air swallowed, reduced risk of indigestion, and more time for the stomach to signal fullness.

Mental Enrichment Built Into Every Meal — The spinning and nudging mimics natural foraging behaviour, providing daily cognitive exercise that helps reduce boredom, anxiety, and destructive habits in dogs that don't get enough mental stimulation between walks.

Anti-Slip Weighted Base — Four non-slip pads on the underside grip the floor and prevent the bowl from sliding or tipping, even during enthusiastic eating sessions.

Smooth, Rounded Edges — No sharp corners or hard ridges. The bowl interior and plate edges are rounded to protect sensitive noses and tongues during extended feeding sessions.

Fully Dishwasher Safe — The rotating plates detach completely from the bowl in seconds. Every component is dishwasher safe (top rack) for quick, thorough cleaning with no hard-to-reach crevices.

Colourways

All variants feature a navy blue outer bowl. The rotating plates differ by colour pair:

Citrus & Fern — Yellow and green plates.
Berry & Marigold — Red and yellow plates.
Berry & Fern — Red and green plates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size dogs is this suitable for?
Designed for small and medium breed dogs and cats. The 26 cm diameter accommodates portion sizes appropriate for pets in that range. Larger breeds with wider muzzles may find the compartments too small to access comfortably.

Does it work with wet food?
Yes. The compartments accommodate dry kibble, wet food, and treats. For wet food, hand washing may be easier than the dishwasher for thorough cleaning of the plate grooves.

Will my dog tip it over?
The bowl has a weighted, low-profile design with four anti-slip pads on the base. It's engineered to stay in place on hard floors and tiles. On carpet, the low centre of gravity provides additional stability.

How does the rotating mechanism work?
Two half-disc plates sit on a central spindle inside the bowl. Food is placed in the compartments beneath and between the plates. The dog must push or nose the plates to spin them, progressively revealing hidden food. No batteries, no electronics — purely mechanical.

Is it safe for unsupervised feeding?
The bowl is made from durable, BPA-free PP with no small removable parts. However, as with any interactive feeder, we recommend supervised use during the first few sessions to ensure your dog engages with it appropriately.

How do I clean it?
Lift the rotating plates off the central spindle — they detach completely in seconds. All components (bowl, plates, spindle cap) are dishwasher safe on the top rack, or can be hand washed under running water.

great puzzle feeder for dogs

awesome really good slow feeder

Difficult to clean/take apart

We like how this slows our puppy down to eat and the design itself is great because it makes your puppy think more and slow down during eating. However, we HATE disassembling it to clean. It's very difficult to take apart and for that reason we wouldn't purchase again. If you clean it as a whole, that seems fine. But that doesn't seem very clean. Would not purchase again.

Worked great!!

Our dig took all if five minutes to figure out the feeder. It worked great! Took twice as long to eat his dinner.

Amazing! My dog loves it.

Amazing! My dog loves it. His breakfast and dinner became interesting for him with this feeder. I hide some little pieces of yummy treats on the layers and he loves finding them while he is also eating his boring kibble :) highly recommended!

Corgi proof!

My piranha corgi puppy has finally met his match! We have two Corgis, which are HIGHLY food motivated and inhale their food, even with slow feeders. This guy can polish off his meals in under 20 seconds. At first I thought by the sheer size of this feeder, it was going to be too big considering they only get half a cup of food twice a day, but it's been just fine. I put PB on the very bottom, sprinkle kibble, green beans and blueberries along the top 2 tiers and my 2 year old takes her deliberate time. My puppy, the one who never chews his foods but swallows it whole? He spends literally 2 hours going back and licking it to be sure every hint of PB is gone. The reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 3 is the quality of the plastic - it's likely not going to hold up. The grips on the bottom aren't exposed enough to actually be useful, so I have to put the bowls in a corner so they don't get pushed around (and tipped over).

Works pretty well.

Definitely slows our lab down. I wouldn't say that it's perfect (a Snuffle, for example, works much better with slowing them down) but it's good at its job and doesn't get smelly with use. That said, not the easiest to clean each of the nooks and crannies.

Doesn't slow large dog

Doesn't slow down my dog. It is easy to use and clean, but not for large dogs with real issues with eating speed.

Great product
Great puzzle!

This is new for my puppy but a lot more complicated than his previous food puzzle, so we will be teaching him how to use it.

Speed Demon Corgi Met His Match

My corgi eats like he is in a timed hot dog eating contest. As we know, corgis need a lot of mental stimulation and are also garbage disposals (mine is, anyway). This slow feeder is amazing. He used to finish his food so quickly, even with less complex slow feeders. But now, our dainty Great Pyrenees who takes a mouthful of kibble out of her bowl at a time and blots her mouth with a napkin after each bite finishes her food before Mr. Rabid Muskrat. So, I definitely recommend this for anyone who has a dog that eats their dinner like they are trying to beat a personal record. (Only thing is if they have smaller kibbles they can get stuck in some of the smaller parts, but that isn't really an issue. This happens because we re-hydrate the food before feeding and it softens and gets stuck)

Dog might be able to pick it up

Love the idea of these! If your dog is super smart like mine, he will knock it around to get the food to fly put on its own. Works good for wet food but harder to clean. I thought it would take him much longer to get it all. He's also 20lbs and just picks it up with his entire mouth and walks around with it. Still, he enjoys spinning it around and the food!

Needs suction cups

The feeder is good but the feet don't hold it very well in place on a smooth surface and is easily pushed around the floor. I do like the feeder as it provides a good challenge and slows down my dogs eating. I would still recommend this but you may want to do something to keep it from moving.

Slower eating!

Got two for the two Frenchies. They still eat fast but it takes them longer to eat. They can't get as much food in their mouths at a time and it is a stimulator for them to figure out if they got it all. It doesn't slip on th floor it's a nice size that they can move around it. It doesn't slip take a little time to fill but with it.

Want to wear out your dog?

Recently adopted a 3 year old pit mix who is way more GO GO GO than my elderly pup. He is very strong and bouncy, and I've found cognitive pieces are a good way to help him focus better on his training. Bought this to slow down his eating experience, and it works perfectly. I mix his meal up and spread it on the three tower parts. What is usually inhaled in about 4 minutes takes about 45. It's a whole event for him! He is way calmer when finished due to the way he must work to clean his plate. Most definitely worth the money and clean up. Put on a feeding mat if your puppy isn't a hoover, for easy clean up.

Fun for dog and easy to fill

Our new rescue loves this! It slows down his eating at dinner and keeps his mind busy. It's fun finding new ideas to fill it as well. He loves it! You can separate it for easy cleaning and the price was a really good value.

Fantastic quality

So taking care of a dog that swallows his food ha ha ha here's your solution. It's not only a slow feeder. It's a brain teaser as well. I had a five month old who devoured his food. So I picked a couple of these up so when I get another dog like that, they can use this ballHe absolutely loved it and he even walked away from it. He got frustrated a few times. So then he's like OK. I'm still still hungry. I'm gonna go sniff around that bowl and move it around some more. And that's exactly exactly what he did and let me tell you, he enjoyed his meal for change! Fantastic quality comes apart quite easy as well to wash it if you need to, but it comes fully assembled as well. For washing it what I do as I spray some dish soap in the very bottom and the next level and the next level put water in each level let it sit for a while. Mix for easy cleanup.I personally recommend this bowl for any really that you want them to use their brain for gobbler absolutely a necessity.

Slow feeder puzzle for Ms. Piggy Mae

My big girl, Daisy Mae (aka Piggy Mae) usually finishes 1 cup of food super fast. I don't think she even chews. I got her this puzzle to slow her down. She loves it! She had no trouble figuring it out, but it does exactly what I wanted. More puzzle feeders are on order because her brother wanted to play, too.

Great bowl just hard to take apart.

We have only had this feeder for a few days and it is a game changer. Our dog has slowed down his roll on eating and is actually chewing his food now. Even after he has finished, he likes to go over each layer and clean it. What I DO NOT like is taking it apart. It is very difficult as the column that you are supposed to squeeze together to get it to release, is hard plastic and very hard to pinch. We have to use a pair needle nose pliers and then it gives. They really need to work on a different methodology to release the bowls for easier cleaning. I will probably leave everything intact and just continue to soak it in soap water rather than take it apart. Under ordinary circumstance, I would have returned this but it is working so well that I do not want to interrupt progress.

Annoying to take apart/put together

It definitely does a good job of forcing my dog to eat slower. The slip resistance is good. It's sturdy and has a decent weight. The size is good, but awkward and doesn't fit neatly in the dog's eating area. Outside of those things the most annoying thing is taking out the levels and cleaning. In order to remove the levels you either need no feeling in your fingers or a pair of needle nose pliers. Otherwise get ready for your fingers to get pinched. The cleaning is difficult due to the shapes of the slow feeder itself and its molding.

Meal time fun

This puzzle bowl is just what you need for a pet who is a food gulper. I find my puppy goes back to it after he has finished (also several times a day) and spins the trays around making sure he got everything. Good quality item and fun for your furry friend.
